Our friend by her son’s float at the Dillsburg, Pa Farmer’s Fair. He and his partner grow shitake mushrooms on oak logs under the shade of hemlock trees. He drills holes in the short logs, fills with a spore mix and seals that in, then dips the logs in cold spring water to “shock” them, pulls them out, stacks them and then waits for the mushrooms to grow. They pop out all over the place through the bark…and taste delicious!
