“Waldo” the Caterpillar has turned into a Monarch Butterfly

  1. Starting late August, Monarch Butterfly caterpillars eat milkweed heartily, attach themselves head hanging low to the underside of the plant they were feeding on. Their skin sheds off and reveals what’s a jade green chrysalis with metallic gold dots around the top 1/3. The hatching of ours started last week…. Just today we were able to find one folded up …By the time the camera came out, it was all ready to fly to flowers for a meal…and then to Mexico for the winter!
