With barns still being used to store hay and straw…vermin like the norway rat are starting to move in to stay warm. It is something farmers deal with….but cats are not the answer to large rodents…which can scare a cat away with one bite.
Farmers with terriers/herding breeds of all sorts/hybrids of prey driven breeds/and any breed that has a good nose and perseverance can have tons of fun in a new sport that has been designed to “train” dogs specifically to the scent of a live rat.

Our 100% health cleared gal Trouble successfully whelped 10 puppies in the middle of March 2016. She has been retired from breeding. She is very healthy, and loves to train in agility, obedience and especially retriever hunting tests at 5 years old. Asking 1800.00 for her due to extensive training we have put into her, and besides that she is cute!

Mary grabbed John’s dog and took him out to see if he could locate a hidden scent in the hay bales….He can, but he is not impressed enough to indicate by anything but a wag of the tail… Mary will teach him to dig (she thinks!)
