John and Mary Fowler bought Grace Farms in 1976 having in mind the idea of building small ponds on it to raise bait fish. Soil maps led us to our present location where clay soil is abundant.
The previous owner had many acres planted in white spruce and red pine as a soil conservation measure, so we consulted with the Cornell Cooperative Extension agent about what to do with these.
We were advised to sell the tops as Christmas Trees. This we did with great success.
We decided to expand our venture beyond the raising of bait fish, and enter into the raising of quality Christmas Trees.
We are active members of the Christmas Tree Farmers Association of New York and have been recognized by New York state for our agricultural practices.
When we are not taking care of our Christmas trees we are actively involved in performance dogs! We train, breed and compete with Labrador Retrievers and Sheepdogs.
We love our extended neighborhood!
Our neighbors use our land recreationally all year long
We give tours to church and school groups
Central Bark Canine Events LLC leases our farm for dog owners to train and compete with their dogs. www.central-bark.biz
Grace Farms and Legion Post 915 donate to “Trees for Troops”
We buy supplies locally as much as possible
We hire local contractors
We always offer our customers:
We choose sustainable agricultural practices by replanting trees every year
We plant more trees than we sell
We choose not to use pesticides or dyes and minimally use herbicides
We qualify in the NYS Agricultural Environmental Management program (AEM)
Much of what we do is labor intensive
(using hand tools)
We choose to advertise on the internet thereby saving much paper and ink
We encourage car pooling with friends and family
We want everyone who visits to enjoy a safe environment, therefore we allow customers to use HAND SAWS only
We have limited the use of chemicals for human and environmental safety.
We have well marked drives and parking lots to get you out in the plantation to pick your perfect tree.
We can help you carry, trim, cut and bale your tree...for free.
We continued to offer trees and wreaths during Covid using unique and creative solutions!
Grace Farm's 2024 Season IS OVER
